Hello Friends
Good to be back here after a long time. Had loads of problems with my comp. Had to replace my precious Seagate 120GB SATA drive and got a 160GB drive for replacement! Now i didnt partition my drive during the XP installation. And set all the space into C: Thought it would be possible to do it through the Disk Management Utility in Windows. But to no avail. It gives the following message
The Selected volume is a system or boot disk or was created on a basic disk in an earlier version of Windows and cannot be extended

Partition Magic 8 gives a similar message.I would like C: to be 30 GB.{In case you are suggesting DOS prompt commands, u know} I would like to partition my drive without losing my data. Please Help me. Thanks in advance :p

The best way is attach ur HDD in nother comp and boot from the other HDD of that comp, now install partition magic and do what u want.
U'll get no ERROR, cauz that time ur HDD will not hv system drive...

Now what you have already done is impossible to manage.
Well, if possible take another HDD, connect it to your computer (as SATA/PATA according to the config. of the disc). Use Seagate Disc Wizard to copy your HDD to the newly installed one. Now remove that one. Format your own HDD. Again copy the backup copy of your disk to your disk with Seagate Disc Wizard.
Always remember you can change the volume of any partition excepting for the system partition. For this you won't need any DM, just XP itself is enough for this.
