Hi All,

I want to upgrade my current rig by March end. Kindly help, Details are given below:

Usages : Gaming. Currently I am able to play most of the games in Medium or Low settings. e.g. MW3, Fallout3. But I want to Play La Noire, Skyrim at High Settings. In addition, Train Simulator 2012 is not giving good frame rate (not smooth).

Current Spec : CPU: Inter C2D E6300 (OCed to 1.9 GHz)
M/B: MSI P43 Neo
RAM: 4 GB DDR2 (Corsair)
GPU: PALIT GTX 260
PSU: CORSAIR VX550
HDD: 700GB Internal (200 + 500) + 1 TB external
Monitor: 19" Viewsonic
MISC : Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler + CM Storm Enforcer.

Planning to Upgrade
: Only CPU + M/B + RAM (Inter or AMD) I need atleast 3 Ghz CPU.

Budget : 14K to 16K.

Time-frame : By March End Extendable to April 1st Week.

Planning to Overclock? : Yes, will use current Hyper 212.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Adhip Ghosh.

Thanks Sam.

Would CM Hyper 212 support LGA1155 chip set??
Also Could you suggest any AMD option? Is there any issue with Nvidia gfx card and AMD ?

yes, it'll support.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 8.9k
Asus M5A97 @ 6.2k
Corsair 4Gb DDR3 @ 1.2k

TOTAL: 16.3k

a bit over budget but a really solid build. specially the motherboard.

no. your GTX260 will work fine with any AMD build.

Thanks again Sam.

I guess VX550 can support the rig.

my pleasure

Ur psu is more than enough, don't worry. But if u were updating ur rig for gamming perpose, go for intel setup.

but AMD setup will last longer as the processor can be overclocked to 4.5Ghz with a cheap 2k air cooler and that will offer a real boost in performance but the i5 is better option for now.

In i5-2400 turbo speed is 3.4mhz.(it can be oced more, i am nt sure though) And for gamming and other purpose also, this SB chips are realy awesome.
See the bench ..

Actually in my current C2D E6300, I find it difficult to Overclocked above 2.1 Ghz, after that it gets slightly unstable. Currently it is Oced to 2.0 Ghz, and temp doesn't exceed 39C (thanks to CM Hyper 212).

thats why i said i5 is better option for now :)

but i really doubt this turbo thing but then again, at stock speed i5 is better than what AMD can offer. but at the cost of high motherboard price & lack of overclocking feature.

One thing should I go for AMD Phenom II 970 or X6 1090T ?? As 970 has higher clock speed and I will be using it for gaming purpose only...

Note: Tomorrow I am going to buy it..... :)

Guys.. bought AMD Phenom II X6 1100T + ASUS M5A88 - M M/B + COrsair Vengeance 4 GB ddr3 ram....... got from Ashirwad Computers (Bangalore) @ Rs 17500
