1. Budget?
Preferably around 25k. Can extend upto ~35k if the device is worth it.

2. Display type and size?
I am not a fan of huge screen sizes. So, anything between 4' - 5' would be fine.

3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?
Bar

4. Preferred choice of brand?
Apple, Sony, LG, HTC, Samsung.

5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).
Touchscreen.

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.

Since, I click a lot of pictures using my phone, a good camera would come handy. No specific megapixel count though. Flash and Front facing camera is not a necessity.

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

iOS or Android (Preferably, a device which is expected to get the KitKat update).

8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.

3G, Wifi.

9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?
No preference.

10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?
Overall use. Calling, texting, clicking pics, music, gaming, internet and a little bit of everything.

11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
iPhone 5 or 5C (If at all they are available in my budget after the Sept 10 launch event by Apple).
Galaxy S4
Xperia ZR or Z
HTC One X+
Nexus 4 (Not so sure about it after the recent drop in price and rumors of Nexus 5 around the corner).

12. Any other info that you want to share.
A good looking phone that fits easily into the hands would be preferable. Good battery life is a must.

Thanks for the reply.
I too am inclined towards S4 but it's look and feel is not very satisfying. However, if I choose to ignore that, is it a good phone to buy? Will it get the Kitkat update?

bhaiya s4 is the best phone money can buy and surely it will update to 4.4 android. even s2 got updated from 2.3 to 4.1 JB. whereas many phone companies who launched their phones last year with 4.0 gave only 4.1 and that's it.

Yeah its a very good phone. And you don't need to worry about updates, Samsung is best in giving(next to google).I wud suggest black colour over white, looks a bit better:-D

Went to the store today to check the phone and was really impressed by it.
Another phone that I liked was Nexus 4 . Now I am thinking to buy Nexus 4 and save some cash to buy a point and shoot camera.
What do you suggest guys?

16GB should be enough for me.
I am only concerned about 2 things"
1. It's fragile body.
2. If Nexus 5 is around the corner then I could wait for it.

Can anyone give me more insight into this?

Don't get excited for nexus 5.... We are in India.... It will not launch here for sure by Google.

Body isn't a major concern. Use a bumper or case with it.
N5 launch may be delayed in India. If it's built by LG then we may get an early launch but seems highly unlikely.

It's probably going to be built by LG. Google might have just accidentally revealed the Nexus 5 | The Verge

Also remember that Nexus 4's battery backup is bad compared to S4 n S3
I know that S4's battey backup is exceptional, but is N4's battery backup bad? I've heard that both the cam and battery of N4 has improved after recent updates.

S4 is a nice point to shoot...(get one only if you decide to buy n4, bad cam)

Camera comparison: Nokia Lumia 925 vs Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy Note II - Conclusion

I don't want to go for S4 just for the cam sake. Instead I could save the extra 10k to buy a point and shoot camera for myself.
If I have to spend 35k, I would prefer getting an iPhone 5 or 5C (still waiting for the prices to confirm).

Nexus 4 seems excellent VFM phone to me. But someone please give me an insight about it's fragile body and battery life..

^ Body is not a concern as u can put a good bumper case..
battery life is not good if you compare it with xperia ZR...
ZR also having sd card slot. [ if that matters to you ]

^Agree, if u really want a point2shoot, get ZR rather than N4...battery life is better and so is cam and screen quality(better colour reproduction but bit bad viewing angles)...look at the chart and decide Sony Xperia ZR vs LG Nexus 4 - Our Analysis

Though I really like N4, its battery issues are making me change my mind.
I want a phone that can easily last a whole day with moderate to heavy usage.

Xperia ZR followed by Optimus G are the two options that I am strongly considering right now.
S4 is also impressive, but spending 35k on a phone seems a bit too much for me. Still, it might be my last resort if nothing else satisfies me.

I still have a week left to decide what to buy. Please keep pouring in your opinions.
And thanks for all the feedback that you all have given till now.

Sure S4 is better, but for lower price ZR is better. S4 has some good camera options/features which ZR won't have + Samsung gives faster android upgrades + S4 might become octa core
Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 could become ‘true eight-core’ devices through software upgrade | SamMobile

I've been going through a lot of online reviews and I must admit regretting that I didn't consider Xperia ZR early on. It certainly seems better than N4 to me, given that it has a better battery life, camera, card slot and removable battery without much of a price difference. One minor gripe though: Will it be receiving the KitKat update?

I agree S4 is a better phone but it will cost me almost 10k extra. Is the 10k difference worth it?
