I desperately need a better processor, and like always, im on a budget. so i'l have to stick to my current motherboard and get a processor thats compatible with it.
I have an Asus M2N-E, like the post reads, and the best processors that can go on it seem to be the Phenom 9850/9950be..
Is anyone using the 9850 or 9950 on an M2N-E? the site says its compatible, but a couple of results on google took me to people who had some problems, prior to the latest bios release. the socket is compatible, but i was wondering if theres any performance issues?

Also, im planning to get a better PSU.. im using a coolermaster extremepower 550 watts psu as of now, plus an 8800GTS, plus 2 Burners, plus 4 Fans, plus 2x1GB DDR2 sticks, plus a Creative SB Live! soundcard, plus two SATA drives totalling about 500gb.
so would a 650-700Watt PSU be good enough?

cheers!

i think Phenom II 720 will give comparable performance with 9850/9950 BE. And P2s are much overclocking friendly too.

it shud support ur mobo, maybe a bios upgrade wil be needed.
Not sure if there wud be some other compatibility issues like u said, but in paper- it do support ur mobo.

and yeaah.. i really wanted a phenom II.. but asus hasn't come out with a bios update that confirms that phenom IIs will run on my board... phenom IIs are am2+ socket compatible, but i couldnt find anyone who's tried it out on an m2n-e.. hence i guess i'l probably settle for a 9850..
btw, i've been checking out stuff on the different variants of the same processor that get released.. so theres three versions for the 9850.. the thermal design power for two versions are 125watts, and for one its 95w.. how does that affect performance??
and should i really go for the black edition? cause thats 125w, and my board's capacity is 125w..
