In a day , how many hours can we keep the computer, safely on, without causing much damage due to heat or usuage.

It should be considered that the computer is not kept in an airconditioned room.

Thanks .

Using my computer 24 hrs a day for a month now still no problems.
It depends what kind of work you want to do on PC.
Game or other CPU intensive application for long durations can be harmful.

What If i say I keep my laptop on for 23 hours a day for the past 2 months?

IF you make sure that you have right ventilation in your cabinet and the system temperatures stay within normal limits, you can keep your system on for more than 2-3 days without any probs.

Hey computers are made to run for long hours in offices etc..hence there is no problem of keeping it running for long durations....

Well if you see the Web servers most of them are on for sevaral months...
So there is actually no limit of the time for a computer to be kept on...

Just needs proper ventilation.

What should be the safe range in which the temperature of a PC should lie.

There will also be no harm to the monitor also , because whenever i feel the monitor it is hot .

Thanks .

dont use any kinda plastic covers for ur monitor and it will be cool...

Also for proccy temp anything below 65 is consistent enough though not highly recommended ,
try keeping it at sub 60 for better results ...

the proccy must NoT go above 70~ coz it reduces the life terribly !

That real good news. My limits are only in the range of 50-55 .

So thats a good sign right.

Not exactly good news but if u really wanna know then 40-45 is the best temperature life , but as u say no AC like my case, then 50-60 is perfect enough in a cramped up place like my room,
well try keeping it in good airflow place on the ground for a little more reduction...

For Danger's sake 50-55 is very good and safely out of danger.

Agreed and absolutely true... Our office holds 2500+ PC's and none are turned off...probably from past 2 years(except sometimes where maintenance is needed). they get proper ventilation and temperatures are maintained. works very well.

well my personal computer, I hardly use it 5 hrs a day continuously.

Well my PC temp rarely goes above 40! And no AC ;)

Well its AMD Athlon64 2800+ and im using RM Clock to underclock it whenever the CPU is idle. Hehe keeps it around 36-40 even in summers!

i have my system run 24*7 always... havnt faced any prbs. and its better to have more fans installed for safer use, especially who dont use ACs... a good quality 1 costs around 80 i guess.
