1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
(Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: My needs are Image editing and Gaming, and I watch movies once in a while.
I'm not too much of a gamer. some of the games I'll be playing are COD 4 & 5, batman arkham asylum, devil may cry, csi etc.
As a photographer i use softwares like adobe lightroom and photoshop. I edit my images in batches and can weigh around 5-8GB per batch.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Since its just about an upgrade I'm looking at about 18,000 INR

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: nope

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I already have a 320 and 160 GB HDD.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want.
If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: I do wish to buy a 20inch LED monitor but not right now. i have an LG 17" CRT monitor.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I will be using my 2 old HDDs and 1 LG DVD writer. I also have my graphic card - Nvidia Geforce 9400GT 1GB

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: 2nd week of September 2012

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: A friend of mine who is a computer engineer will help me assemble it.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I live in Mumbai. I'm open to buying from lamington road, grant road or buying online from flipkart (whichever will be cheaper).

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: In other queries:

Here is something im looking at:
AMD FX4100 Processor
Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 4 GB RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9)

I have an iball 250W PSU. will that be sufficient or do I need more power?
One HDD and the DVD writer are IDE enabled. Do we have IDE to SATA converters in the market?

you can go for this-
a8 3850-7k
gigabyte a55m-ds2-3.5k
corsair value 2x2gb -1.4k
corsair vs 450-2k
total-13.9k
those iball psus have a high failure
go with the vs 450
also the bulldozers are s###
these apu will give better graphical and cpu performance

Thank you, guys for the help.

I'll have a look at the AMD A8. I kinda tilt towards AMD over Intel.
