1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Primary Use : Gaming Secondary Uses : Programming/Surfing/Downloading Series/movies. Would be hooking it up to TV via HDMI to mirror content.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 35k (+5k max if needed)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not too keen on overclocking.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Already have a Win7 Ultimate DVD.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I have a WD Green 500 GB HDD.Planning to get a 1 TB (Planning to use 2 HDD)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No. Will use my existing 19" ViewSonic monitor.Possible upgrade later

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Will reuse: Graphics Card : Gigabyte 9800 GT(Possibly Upgrade once GT 960 Series is available).
Cabinet : CM Elite 311 Plus
Power Supply : Corsair CX 600 V2
Keyboard & Mouse (Already have logitech combo)
Optical Drive
Monitor

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within 15 days.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Will assemble it myself + help of dealer

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai..Will be going to Lamington Road.Know couple of dealers which i have been dealing with since long.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:
Going through various threads this is what i am looking at

CPU : Intel i5 4440 / i5 4460 (Any other suggestions)
Motherboard : Asus H97-PRO / Asus H97 PRO Gamer (Looking at ATX size with possible SLI setup)
Ram : Undecided on RAM ...planning to get 8 GB (4GB * 2)...Need guidance on this.
HDD : Possibly WD Black 1 TB (Looking for maximum warranty/support..Or anything from Seagate ?)

Special Observations : Planning to update PSU if needed once i update GFX card.Normally PC runs overnight..so heat dissipation etc of components should be good hence looking at ASUS MB with ATX Size.

As mentioned a bit confused regarding RAM modules...Need help on the same...Looking to have 2 sticks.

Possibly would need to look at Cabinet Compatibility once i upgrade the GFX Card.

I can tell you about ram..

RAM

There is nothing much to look for into RAM. Include 4 GB RAM as minimum, unless your budget is really low. Most local shopkeepers provide EVM or Kingston 1333 MHz RAM. Though they aren’t bad, it’s worth investing a few extra hundred rupees more to get a Corsair or G.Skill 1600 MHz RAM. Corsair offers 10 years warranty on Value Select series and lifetime warranty on Vengeance, similar to G.Skill’s RipjawsX. EVM offers only 2 or 3 years of warranty. All modern processors natively support 1600 MHz modules so it makes more sense getting one instead of slandered 1333 MHz module.

Getting two identical small RAMs instead of one large RAM will make them run in dual channel mode, providing increased bandwidth which can provide moderate performance improvement in some applications. For running RAM in dual channel mode, you’ll have to make sure you get identical pair of RAM. Using different modules together isn’t recommend, they it may cause no problems. On motherboards with 4 RAM slots, two of them will have different color than the other two. To make RAM work in dual channel mode you’ll have to insert them into same color slots. For example, if your board has Red – Blue - Red – Blue slots, insert then RAM into either black or blue slots.

For the specifics...Planning to play GTA5,AC-Unity,COD , Dragon Age. Shadows of Mordor...Also as mentioned playing 1080p content (movies, series) and plan to HDMI mirror the same on my TV .Another thing would be programming since i tend to work from home ..so mostly Java/.Net projects on Eclipse/VStudio 2013 plus running Tomcat locally with around 2gigs memory.

Finally purchased First Set of components over the weekend by going to Lamington Road...

Here's the shopping cart :

ProcessorCore i5 4440INR 11500
Motherboard Gigabyte Z97 D3H rev 1.1INR 9500
MemoryKingston Hyper X Blue 1866 MHz 8GBINR 4700
Hard DriveWB Black 1 TBINR 5300

Total Damages to Wallet : INR 31000

The shop owner is an old acquaintance so he helped installed the components and helped installed Win 7 which i activated later using Key that i have.

Next in line for purchase :

  1. Geforce GT960 - I was quoted INR 16.5k for MSI Twin Frozr and Rs 17000 for Asus One.I am thinking to wait till April to see if there is any price drop. Also i am looking out for single fan options if they become available.
  2. SSD - Samsung 850 128 GB was costing around 55000..with cheaper options being Sandisk(4k) and Corsair(4.8k).

Need recommendations for the same ? Is Samsung worth the extra price ?

Another query.Looking at quality of fan blades of the stock cooler is an after market cooler recommended ?

Will be posting images soon...

1. There is no reason for nVidia to drop the price since the next AMD release is not due until second half of 2015. So I see little chance of price getting lowered till April. But if you have the option of waiting, then you can wait to see if you get a better deal.
2. I myself have recently acquired Samsung EVO 850 and as per my experience, its worth it. More than the extra 8GB its the performance of the drive that matters. Please compare the three and check if there are any advantages of the samsung evo other than the extra space.
