Hey guys, i have an amd athlon 3200+ with 512 MB DDR400 RAM and 160 GB of hdd. I also have a cmi8738 sound card. Whenever i shut down the pc, it restarts. However if i remove the sound card from my pc, then the pc shuts down properly. I tried installing the latest drivers but it did not help. I have attached a screenshot of the conflicts being shown in the system information viewer. I hope this will be of some help in guessing the root cause of the problem and arriving on a proper solution.

Coming back to life ..
Try doing this :
Start > Run > Sysdm.cpl {Press Enter}
Click on Advanced Tab
Under Startup and recovery click on Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the option that says "Automatically Restart"

Try it now.

Btw .. That screenshot says your graphic card and sound card are sharing the same IRQ. Ideally this shouldnt be the config. You should put the sound card in different PCI slot and a different IRQ will be assigned to it.

I have tried both things and now the onboard graphics is shared with the pci bus. Also the sound card is not being shown anywhere in the conflicts list. But the problem has not been solved yet:!:
