Hi Experts,
Last night my 10 year old workstation died, can get it majorly repaired, but it has minor issues every week.
and its outdated now, so i want to buy a new pc today, client deadlines on head.

You must be asking if i am doing pro work, why i need advise ?
Its simple, i am using it from last 10 years, so kind of OLDIE, my knowledge about hardware is OLD
and hence looking for expert advise from who are connected with latest tech CURRENTLY.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Not for Gaming, office work only.

1. Pro Level - Graphics Design (Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel) No 3D MAX, No Maya
2. Pro Level - Video Editing (Premier/Aftereffect, Finalcut pro)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 60 to 80, including new TFT

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not sure

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) / Win 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: SSD 120 to 250 GB reliable and 1 TB HDD reliable

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:
around 21 inch which has great resolution for video and graphics work, zero flickr/less lag time

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: DVD Drive, Graphics VCard, UPS

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Today

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembled, and a bit I know, but more or less it will be by hardware guy, rest software/installation I can take care

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Dehradun, Most probably Local, But open to online for a good deal

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I read your forums, and seems to settle upon, not final

intel i7 - confused with 4th and 5th gen (hardware shop suggest 4790K) what you suggest
Min 8x2 Corsair vengeance RAM (16 GB) - its has so many variations and MHz, what you suggest
Confused aabout SMPS , 500 or 650 or 800, which company, they seems to be very expensive
i have geforce 8500, is it ok for current pc, i can use old one, or buy new ?
Need decent robust cabinet - cooler master so many options, confused ?
Cabinet with Zero sound, robust, cooling required ? for video/graphics editing
Need mother board for video, sound editing support (mother board hardware shop suggested - Z97), what you suggest

Instead of 4790 go for 5820k
Priced 3k more approx.

Get Amd graphics
Either 380 or 390

Hi friends, thanks all.

Finally I gave advance for the following, is this compatible, please suggest.
I can call hardware guy, if any swapping to be done for best... hes giving workstation tommorow.

i7 4790 K (i got K, for overclock ability) - Rs. 24500
MSI Z97 PC Mate - Rs. 8350 (thought for gaming 5, but budget constraint, so PC MAte)
16 GB Corsair Vengance Ram 1600 MHz - Rs. 6500
2 TB Toshiba Sata - Rs. 5000
Antec 505 Cabinet - Rs. 3500
Corsair 550 W SMPS - Rs. 3400

1.
Dell monitor - still confused, need which can be rotated landscape to portrait and height adjustment due to neck pain, matte better
PLEASE SUGGEST if any better (but economical) than dell, ultra series expensive

2.
SSD - I AM NOT SURE TO BUY, WILL IT BE GOOD FOR GRAPHICS AND VIDEO EDITING (OS AND SOFTWARE) ?
I can buy it if its worth ?

3.
Graphic Card ??? Confused
Planning to get Zotac Quadro for video editing, please suggest price and series

4.
Robust keyboard (mechanical) - ritcom e not available here

5.
Please suggest economical but good soundless fans (antec 505 hardware guy told 3 fans are with chasis, but i think it will be only 1, rest i have to buy separately for installation) ???

please send your valuable suggestion fast.... i have to confirm everything before lunch today.

2.Significant performance boost is delivered with SSD upgrade.
Get Sandisk Extreme Pro for ₹8600/- aproxx
Extreme Pro>> 850 Evo

3.Graphics
Get 390/390x for 1080p/QHD rendering according to the monitor you choose.

Here's comparision between 390 vs k2100m
UserBenchmark: AMD R9 390 vs Nvidia Quadro K2100M

Firepro/Quattro cards are too expensive.

Another between 390x(33k approx) vs Firepro W7000(62k theitdepot)
UserBenchmark: AMD FirePro W7000 vs R9 390X

So go with AMD Raedon

4.If you do not need any fancy lighting, etc stuff.

Get a TVS Gold mechanical keyboard for 1800-2200.
Cheap,Robust and good.

If its from VS series, dump the crap. Get Seasonic S12II 520W instead.

Thanks buddy. I have last 2 calls to make. Then its done.

1.
Hmmm.. so i dump corsair smps 550 W - approx Rs. 3450 ?

I am confused how much SMPS my workstation will require ? with this config
i7 4790K, msi pc mate mb, 16 gb vengance ram, graphics card 2 gb, ssd 250, 2 tb hdd, antec 505 cabinet

PLEASE SUGGEST 2-3 DIFF COMPANY OPTIONS AS LOCAL MARKET IS BAD IN TERMS OF AVAILABILITY, ITS NOT A METRO CITY.

2. Also the AMD 380/390 are way expensive,
what are good options for video editing and graphics pro work (not super pro)
in range of Rs. 10000 to 15000

or shall i wait and buy better later,
at present use geforce 8500 old i have, 512 hardwre + 512 shared software ???

PLEASE AGAIN GIVE 2-3 OPTIONS OF DIFF COMPANY.

please answer.... thanks... KEEP THE GOOD WORK....
