Password Screen Showing Many Characters

Right off the assembly line
Whenever I switch on my windows 7 pro laptop the login screen's password box shows many characters or dots. No key is pressed as it automatically stops after 2 seconds by which time more than 20 characters are there. It happens whether I sleep, hibernate or shut down my computer. But it does not happen when I only lock my computer. Why is this happening? I scanned through my Norton Internet Security 2011 and it showed nothing. Other than that my computer is working like it always has. What is this? A virus? Or something else? Please tell me....:?:

Hardware fault. A key on keyboard has some problem.
If it's not bothering you while normal usage, then don't fret, or else show it to service, if it's under warranty.
