PASSWORD PROBLEMS!!!

Hey guys!!!!
I have forgot my root password of Linux.
Is there any way to recover it as I dont want to install Linux again.
Please help me as I can't configure any hardware for Linux.

At the bootloader try passing init=1 parameter to kernel at the bootloader
