Panasonic P31 - Questions

I have read a few pages at different sites regarding the new Panasonic P31 phone.
Eg. Panasonic P31 smartphone launched for Rs 11,990: Features, specifications and comparison | Latest Tech News, Video & Photo Reviews at BGR India

The things I took home from that are:

1. It has Android Jelly Bean 4.2.
There are other Panasonic Androids out there.
How is the stock firmware? Is it pure Android or modified?
How is Panasonic w.r.t. updating the Android version for released phones?
Can this phone be rooted?
Is there any active community producing alternate ROMs for this phone?

2. It has a "quad core" processor.
Which processor exactly?
How fast is it in real life usage?

3. There is 4 GB of internal memory.
How much is taken up by the OS itself?
Considering that it is too low to store many applications, does it allow moving of applications to SD card?

4. It is the priciest among compared 4 mobiles in that list.
Is it worth the premium being asked for? How is the service backup?

5. Battery capacity is rated at 2000 MAh.
Is it removable?


I am thinking of buying a second phone to replace my wife's Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman. I am also looking at other options. This looked interesting.

Any reason? That model seems to have bad camera and severe battery drain issues more so while gaming and my wife will be gaming constantly!

OS. That has 4.1. Is it possible to update on our own?

It seems Panasonic has exited mobile business elsewhere. So I do not expect much OS updates.

Sorry I didn't knew that they are using Snapdragon 200 chipset on that phone.I am not suggesting P31 because it only have 512 Mb of ram. Get gionee M2 or if you don't care about brand then get Xolo Q700S or Q1010.

Most of the budget phone only gets update once during their lifetime that too to fix bugs so don't expect updates.

How about Moto G or Sony Xperia L?
Both of them are priced in same range.
