Outlook Express..irritating

a weird problem..
i once created an outlook express account. it didnt suit me and i removed my account. but still, the mails which i had downloaded from my account kept coming. i deleted them but still in hte welcome screen, a message comes - unread messages. in fact there are none..
pls help.

Use TweakUI and uncheck option of show unread mail on Welcome screen under Logon->Unread mail.
