oracle 9i feature

well, i m preparing for oracle 9i certification.

While reading the features of oracle 9i in the reference book i came across this point:

-> "Industry standard technologies, no proprietary lock-in"

What does "no proprietary lock-in" mean?

By following a common standard, moving to another product following similar standard will be easier and hence u r not confined to a particular product forever
