they were 940 pin, and required different mobos/ registered ECC RAM etc. etc.
opterons for s939 were released recently, which means you can use them for your desktop s939 PC, with unregistered+non ECC RAM.
the s939 opterons are apparently great overclockers, so it makes sense to buy a somewhat higher priced opteron instead of a similarly performing Athlon64

the best part is, only 3 were available..its out of stock now
