Hi guys, earlier I posted in laptop sections requesting a laptop, but now I have decided to go ahead with a desktop. Please suggest a config that can last for a few years or can be extended by upgrading the components.
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans:
90% of the time, it's for office work. MS Office, Running Linux Servers in the background, using OBS Studio for recording, Chrome 50+ tabs, Video editing software (15% of the time), Adobe Photoshop, MS Office, Running Linux Servers in the background, and Multi-tasking with different applications.
When I have time I love playing games like Assassin Creed, COD, or similar games. I dont mind playing them at the lowest possible settings.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: INR 100k, +10k if required
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: no
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: I have a laptop with Win10 Education License. Could I use this license on the new desktop and upgrade to Win 11?
Can I use the same license on 2 different machines? If not, I prefer Win 11.
5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: 500GB SSD (If it is too costly in India, I can get this from the USA)
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Yes
Currently, I work on a 17 inches laptop monitor and I am comfortable with 17 inches.
Suggest a bigger one, if you feel a bigger monitor looks better and it fits in the budget
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: HDD - I have one with 1TB
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: By October end.
If I wait till November, do we get any Black Friday deals in Indian Online Stores?
9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes, I built it earlier and will be building this myself.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Hyderabad and I prefer online stores.
I dont trust CTC
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I am not a big fan of fancy cabinets, I leave the choice to you.
If possible try to squeeze in a 32GB RAM, I work on applications that are hungry for memory.
If any components are cheaper in the USA compared to the Indian store, please let me know I can try and get them from the USA.
