Hi guys, earlier I posted in laptop sections requesting a laptop, but now I have decided to go ahead with a desktop. Please suggest a config that can last for a few years or can be extended by upgrading the components.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans:
90% of the time, it's for office work. MS Office, Running Linux Servers in the background, using OBS Studio for recording, Chrome 50+ tabs, Video editing software (15% of the time), Adobe Photoshop, MS Office, Running Linux Servers in the background, and Multi-tasking with different applications.
When I have time I love playing games like Assassin Creed, COD, or similar games. I dont mind playing them at the lowest possible settings.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: INR 100k, +10k if required

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: no

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: I have a laptop with Win10 Education License. Could I use this license on the new desktop and upgrade to Win 11?
Can I use the same license on 2 different machines? If not, I prefer Win 11.

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: 500GB SSD (If it is too costly in India, I can get this from the USA)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Yes
Currently, I work on a 17 inches laptop monitor and I am comfortable with 17 inches.
Suggest a bigger one, if you feel a bigger monitor looks better and it fits in the budget

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: HDD - I have one with 1TB

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: By October end.
If I wait till November, do we get any Black Friday deals in Indian Online Stores?

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes, I built it earlier and will be building this myself.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Hyderabad and I prefer online stores.
I dont trust CTC :D

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I am not a big fan of fancy cabinets, I leave the choice to you.
If possible try to squeeze in a 32GB RAM, I work on applications that are hungry for memory.
If any components are cheaper in the USA compared to the Indian store, please let me know I can try and get them from the USA.

CPU- i5 12400F - 15k

CPU Cooler - Deepcool AG400 -1.7k

Mobo- Gigabyte B660 DS3H - 11.5k

GPU- AMD RX 6600 XT- 32k

SSD- Samsung 980 1TB - 7.3k

Memory- 2x 16GB 3600Mhz C18 - 10k

PSU- Asus Tuf Bronze 650w - 4.8k

Cabinet - Deepcool Matrexx 50 4Fs - 4.3k

Monitor - Acer XV272U 1440p 144hz - 22k (currently on sale, so grab this first)

Total- 108k

You can only use 1 license per PC with windows, so better to run W11 unactivated on your new PC.
It's better to buy a majority of your components in the US, since prices there are so much cheaper than what we have here in India.
Ex. RX 6650 XT (similar to RX 6600 XT) costs 320 $ (about ₹26k)
32GB Memory kit costs 100$ (₹8k )
1TB SSD costs 65$ (₹5.2k)

Also consider this AMD build-
Ryzen 5 5600 (non X) - Costs 150$ in the US ~ 12k INR
Mobo - MSI B550 PRO VDH - 10.5K (can get this here)
Rest of the parts will be the same

Edit: You can also consider the RX 6700 XT for 36k.

SSD- Samsung 980/WD SN570 1TB - 7.3k

Memory- 2x 16GB 3600Mhz C18 - 10k

PSU - Deepcool PM650D 80+ gold - 5k

Monitor - Acer XV272U KV 1440p 170Hz - 22k

Total- 108.5k

5700X is a faster CPU than i5 12400, suggested it as gaming seems like a minor use case. RX 6600 can run many games smoothly at 1440p 60fps, for others, render at 1080p or use FSR ultra quality/quality mode at 1440p.

You missed out on sales in India, no Black Friday sales here.

Thank you @DestGod & @omega44-xt for your suggestions.

I just spoke to my friends in US and few are coming to India in December so I am thinking to make use of the black Friday and cyber Monday deals at the end of November.

What are the things I can get from US without much of an hassle?

CPU, SSD, Memory and do you recommend getting the GPU as well??

Oh shoot! I totally forgot about the warranty part.

@SaiyanGoku , if you remember I got a laptop from US ~5 years ago and it's still working good without any issue. But again this laptop had a authorised service center in Bangalore.

So should I drop the idea to buy them in US?

Why the need of high refresh rate monitor when the gaming is not a priority? And can settle for something along the line of 1660S/Ti and spend the money saved for some other parts.

CPU, SSD and RAM/Memory are the parts that are the least prone to any damage or problems in the future. SSD and Memory can be easily replaced as well. So get these from the US.

GPU on the other hand, is a different story. You never know when a problem can come to it. To claim warranty, you may have to ship it back to the US. But IMO, if there are no problems when you first receive the GPU, you shouldn't get any problems in the future. Any problem that may occur will be due to driver problems, unconditional environment or extreme overclocking. So take your call on the GPU.

Hi guys, Apologies for a delayed response, I spoke to my colleagues and a few are traveling in December, so I have decided to get CPU, SSD, and RAM from the USA and the rest from India (online shopping).

As mentioned by @chetansha AMD does provide an international warranty but with conditions,
AMD Warranty is only good to the original purchaser and is not transferable. Without an Official Receipt showing the Original Owner and date of purchase from the Retailer
I will be ordering this through online stores like Newegg, Amazon, and other sites. I guess ordering it myself and with the receipt, I can claim a warrant when required.

As mentioned by @nac , I do not need a high refresh rate monitor because gaming is not a priority. Please suggest a decent monitor.

I will purchase these at the end of November during BlackFriday and CyberMonday deals. So kindly request you to recommend a config as per these updated points.

Thanks.

No one knows what Black Friday deals will be, also many deals are like flash sales at times, so might have to grab ASAP. Microcenter has some good deals on Black Friday, but store only.

I suggested a gaming monitor, because they are cheaper & usually better than non-gaming monitors in terms of panel quality (colour reproduction, contrast ratio, etc, not just refresh rate & response times). High end professional monitors will cost a lot more, these are low volume products, hence the high price, gaming monitors are relatively high volume, hence lower costs.

IMO maybe you can get an R9 5950X during Black Friday for $400-450, have been on sale for $500 there. Or maybe 5900X for $300-350. For top gaming performance, 5800X3D for $300-350. A good 15-17k B550 can handle all of these CPUs with ease.

+1. @abcxyz if you wish, you can go with a 1080p display as well. However, a 1440p monitor was suggested for the above reasons, as well as user comfort. Personally never used 1440p before, but from the reviews I've seen, 1440p seems to be a breath of fresh air when compared to 1080p.

If a 5950x fits in your budget, consider picking that up instead. You will however, need to reciprocate the increase in cost in your CPU cooler and motherboard as well. However, a Ryzen 5/i5 will get the job done as well. In fact, you can consider spending a bit more on the memory to get 2x32GB sticks for a total of 64GB, since DDR4 memory prices are hitting an all time low.

If getting top end Ryzen then don't skimp on mobo, at least get a board with 10k+ price. You can refer to below list. I suggest getting a mobo with at least tier-A VRMs. MSI B550M Pro VDH wifi suggested above by omega is one such board available on amazon but do check the seller ratings & switch to a good one(currently 2 such sellers are uniqueclick & kharidyedotcom) as default selected seller option on amazon is bad nowadays in many cases.

MSI B550M Pro VDH WiFi is just 10.5k with many sellers, except amazon (but see if it is similar priced with card offers):

Hey guys, sorry I could not buy this earlier due to budget issues. Now that I have saved some funds, would like to buy this in a week in Indian online stores.

Should I go with the below spec as suggested earlier or do you want to change/suggest anything new as per the current market rates? I can extend to max 125k.

CPU- R7 5700X - 24k

CPU Cooler - Deepcool AK400 - 2.4k

Mobo- MSI B550M Pro VDH WiFi - 10.5k

GPU- AMD RX 6600 - 23k

SSD- Samsung 980/WD SN570 1TB - 7.3k

Memory- 2x 16GB 3600Mhz C18 - 10k

PSU - Deepcool PM650D 80+ gold - 5k

Cabinet - Deepcool Matrexx 50 4Fs - 4.3k

Monitor - Acer XV272U KV 1440p 170Hz - 22k

RAM should be closer to 8-9k

That build seems to be 107k or so. So there's potential to improve with extra ~20k now that some parts are cheaper. Check this

pcpricetracker.in/b/s/57c0c48b-34e3-435f-b706-fa6f4b990d0f

This has a superior CPU (33%) & GPU (20%) than the older suggested build because of new parts & some price reductions.

Monitor goes OOS frequently for extended period. Now it is in stock on amazon, just order that ASAP.

Thanks for the replies @omega44-xt and @whitestar_999. I will be going forward with the build suggested by @omega44-xt

I have never purchased computer parts online, I hope that whatever sources (PrimeABGB, The ITDepot, Vedant Computers, Elitehubs) you have mentioned are reliable.

What's your review on ITGadgetsonline? CPU is around 19k (5k lesser than Primeabg)

I found this monitor on Amazon, is this the one you are recommending? I have placed the order, and will cancel if it's not the right one,

www.amazon.in/Acer-Splendor-Monitor-Technology-Eyesafe/dp/B0B5PQYLSQ?th=1

Acer Nitro XV272U KV 27-inch(68.58cm) LED
2560 x 1440 Pixels WQHD IPS
Agile Splendor Gaming LCD Monitor with LED Back Light Technology I
1 MS 170 Hz I 400 Nits I AMD Free Sync I TUV/Eyesafe I Black
WQHD 170Hz

Total Cost is around ~120k

Please suggest a,
keyboard-mouse combo for 5k (prefer Full-size keyboards with mechanical and macro keys)
Webcam for 2k

How do you rate the below keyboards?
Asus TUF K3 - 3.5k in Flipkart (currently OOS)
Corsair K55 RGB - 3.8k in Gamesncomps
