Right off the assembly line
Hello i have bought a Athlon X4 635 and Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H after taking suggestion from members of this forum. Now i have one more question to you guys. I have filled up my hdd with lots of dvd movies and now i am thinking of converting them to avi and burning them to a dvd to free up my hdd. So i was thinking of overclocking my cpu to speed up video conversion. I am a complete noob regarding oc so i want to know the procedure to oc my cpu to atleast 3.1ghz. I have a stock cpu cooler. I have 2 1gb corsair 667mhz ram modules running @ 800mhz. I have updated my bios to the latest version. What steps should i take before oc'ing and also how to oc my cpu properly?

not much of an advantage. use the stock speed. or push clock upto 3Ghz (increase FSP in BIOS to 207Mhz). i'll instead suggest lower the processor voltage (from 1.47V to 1.25V or below till the PC able do conversions without crashing) & keep it running in stock speed. processor will run cooler & the speed is fairly good too.
