What is the difference between Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries. Which one is better?

How much a pair rechargable batteries of each type cost ?

Ni-Cd-----> Nickel Cadmium usualy of 750mAh(mAh stands for Milliamp Hour)
Ni-Mh-----> Nickel Metal Hydrite usualy of 2500mAh

NiCd costs around Rs 100-150 pp
NiMh costs around Rs 250 pp

the chargers for each is of different type..NiMh charger costs another Rs300 (maybe more)

if u have to buy for a digital camera, invest on a NiMh one!!
as NiCd wont last long! in my case..
Duracell lasted for 15 pics, Eveready 750mAh lasted for 15... and Sony CyberShot2700mAh lasted for 65pix

Ok that helped me a lot. My next question is how to discharge a battery manually. Most of these guides ask me to discharge the battery completely before recharging them.

some "good" quality battery chargers comes with dischargers. as they r quite expensive, you can connect a 1.5 volt bulb to the battery and it will suck the last bit of chemical energy left in the battery.

nicd suffers from memory effect, so it's major trouble if you can't handle it !

so nimh is the new standard !
