1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I will be using this for video editing and some basic gaming like CS GO. Not looking at gaming above 1080p.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: I'm looking at 30-35K for CPU, Mobo and 16 GB RAM. Can extend a bit if it's really required
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: I'd like to say yes but I never overclocked my earlier system. So I'm ok to get a Mobo that doesn't support overclocking if I can save some money
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 10
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Don't need to buy, I already have two HDDs and 1 SSD
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No, already have one. Dell 21 inch 1080p.
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Cabinet, Monitor, PSU (Corsair 450W), Graphics Card (Nvidia 1050Ti)
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within 1 week
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I have, but I'll probably get it done from my usual computer guy.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Live in Mumbai and I'm open to buying it online
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I was planning to wait for a few months to upgrade but my Mobo (MSI G43) conked for the 2nd time in 3 weeks and I don't see much point in again repairing it.
I already have an AMD FX 6300 processor and I've been quite happy with it. So I want to continue with AMD and R5 3600 seems to be perfect for my needs. My only concern is that I've read reports that not all B450s are working well, even with a BIOS update.
When it comes to Mobos, I've read that MSI makes the best B450s but I've had a very bad experience with them for After Sales Service. It took them more than 2 months to replace my board....which conked off in less than a year. So I'd prefer recommendations from other vendors. Also, does X470 really justify the premium it commands?
Thanks,
Vignesh
P.S. Any idea how much can I expect for my existing FX 6300 and 2X8GB DDR3 RAMs?
