Download: *koshyjohnuk.googlepages.com/neosearch.exe
Size: 343Kb
Works with: Windows XP and Vista only
Disclosure: Its my own program but its not being sold for profit, etc. Just one digit reader to the rest.
The copy I've put up at the moment describes itself as a demo/evaluation copy. I'll put up the full version in 2 months or so.
What it does
- Indexes your computer (max ever was 3 minutes with all drives included; can be as little as 4.5 seconds)
- Watch results dynamically change as you type in a query (first 4 results; its instantaneous <0.04 seconds usually)
- Full results are available in a new window if you press the magnifying glass button (~ 0.20 seconds)
- Maintains logs for you to go through (performance counters) - check the options window
Installing and Uninstalling
- Self-installing and self-uninstalling
- Doesn't require admin priviliges and doesn't change system settings (trade-off: only installed for the current user)
- Run it a couple of times and it asks to activate (what it does is place a request for a counter on the web; the request is placed at *www.amazingcounters.com/ - if the request is successful, it is considered activated. Nothing else happens here.
- Checking for updates once a month: checks the original download location for a change in file size (even marginally changed compiled scripts have some change in file size).
- Uninstalling: open options window and select uninstall: all traces of the program are removed: it even deletes itself.

- Vista and XP
- Improves drive performance by a one click maintenance operation that would take a lot of time to do manually.
