I need longer cable for my WD External HDD for USB 3.0 I need it so that I Can connect it easily to my TV. I tried connecting using the normal USB Extension cable but when I connect the HDD is not being recognised by the TV.
How much would a decent one cost? The one that came with the HDD is very short.
Any specific brand that I should look for? 1 feet length should be fine.

I bought something similar from a local shop here. When I connect it to my TV and then connect the hdd to the female port of the extension cable my HDD is not getting detected by the TV. Infact I remember trying two cables like this.
Also I don't think it will help if I use it as an extension cable from back of my PC since I will end up getting USB 2.0 Speeds.

arey baba the cable will only make a difference if one connector was usb2+3.
you are just extending the 4 connectors of the common usb interface

@ Gollum if I connect the HDD with the extension cables the HDD doesnt get detected by the TV. Hence I would need a USB 3.0 Longer cable .

basic principle of electricity:longer the wire more will be the resistance meaning lesser current/power reaching at other end.for simple usb devices it is not an issue but with power hungry devices like hdd(with respect to usb port) it does matter.a good quality cable(read costlier) will try to compensate this by using higher quality material(say better conducting copper wire than regular one) but even that is valid upto a limit only.after a certain length no matter how much better cable you use it simply won't work.
