Need tips to keep laptop cool under intensive usage

I need a way to prevent my Acer E15 from overheating during intensive gaming sessions. I currently keep its back portion raised (supported by books, etc) to allow more air circulation, but that doesn't seem to show much effect. If I really need a Laptop cooling pad, what all things should I look for? My budget is really tight and I can't afford investing more than Rs.500.

remove the battery and put it on some laptop cooler with metal mesh and big fan(s).

Use a vacuum cleaner and clean out all vents of possible dust. Use the laptop under a fan and get a decent laptop cooler, cheaper ones with big fans dont necessarily provide optimum cooling. You could always under volt your CPU but research online what is a good under volt for your CPU for stable performance.
