I am planning to purchase the following config -

Asus P5WD2-EP I975X (Supports DDR2, SATA-2, RAID AND with SLI I Guess)
Intel Pentium D 940 3.20 GHZ (2x2M/800/65nm)
Kingston DDR533 1GB x2
MS-V801 NX7900GTX 512MB x 2 (D3/PCI-E16X/VIVO/2DVI)
19" Samsung 960BF(DVI) x 2
Maxtor 160.0GB/7200/8MB/SATAII x 2
SONY DRU-810A 16X8X16X DVDRW (?Dual Layer Writing Capability)

Can you guys comment on this - what more recommendations would you make? I can exceed my budget by a 9k more.

see if u can get a 10000 rpm WD HDD, that would make a world of diffrence

or u can consider an AMD system where u will get a bunch of suggesions....
but there is nothing wrong with this either

I'd suggest you spend that extra 9k to get a really good cabinet and power supply. Preferably an Antec Sonata cabinet and a Antec TruePower 550W PSU. You need that power for the kind of rig you're going to buy. Maybe even a high-end heatsink fan from Thermaltake or Zalman to go with it.
