OK so I think Im quite comfortable using mandrake 10.1 now . So I recently checked out lynucs.org and checked out those awesome screenshots of peoples Mandrake box which encouraged me to try the same on my system.

Now after 3 days of work the last 3 days I managed to get gkrellm installed but that too after installing it from the Mandrake 10.1 DVD. I have yet to get an icon set to work or any other desklet etc. I know theres many tutorials to mod a Windows desktop easily. Like the one here
*www.apurva.com/Articles/AGuidetoDesktopCustomization/tabid/64/Default.aspx

But can anyone show me a similair tutorial to do the same on Mandrake or any Distro?

You need to tell us what Desktop Environment you are using cos eye candy can be recommended only when we know what we are dealing with.

You can make an X Windows desktop look like whatever you like, although it could mean you have to change the desktop environment / window manager you use.

KDE and gnome are the most popular desktop environments available, if you are using KDE, you find the site www.kde-look.org interesting.

To get a look at other window managers for X, take a look at www.xwinman.org . FVWM is the most customisable one, but it takes a good deal of configuration to get it to run well.
