Need Laptop/netbook for 15k

My friend need a laptop or netbook capable of playing 1080p in any format, MS office and other simple task (no gaming) from a good brand for minimum price.

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
As low as possible (+- Rs 15000)

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?

Netbook; 11" - 10” screen or less
Thin and Light; 12" - 14" screen




3) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Brands with good sevice in Kolkata
b. Dislike: Poor service


4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
1080p Movie playback in any format, MS office and other simple tasks

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?
10"-12", better if 16:9 aspect ratio

Buy laptop + tablet maybe? Since movie watching seems to be a priority here.

at 15k only Atom or Celeron or the weak AMD C-series is available. all of these have problem running Full HD videos. need to sell out at least 18-19k for some decent deal.

Can't speak for Intel Atom or Celeron series, but AMD C series can handle 1080p videos just fine (I have an Acer netbook with C-60). Though the CPU is still weak, AMD at least had the sense to include (relatively) decent graphics. If you use a player which supports GPU accelerated decoding (I prefer MPC-HC but there are others), full HD videos play nicely. Just make sure nothing uses up the CPU cycles in the background, though.
