ok guys me almost finalised my new config pls suggest me abt it.....moreover i will be upgrading most of the components except the mobo so suggest me that way too.

Intel Core2Duo E6300 1.86ghz Rs.9350
MSI 965NeoF mobo 6200/-
512 mb DDRII 533mhz transcend/kingston 3100/-
black cabinet 1350/-
7600PCI express card 7950/-(i forgot to ask for its make)
comes to 28k with taxes

ok firstly the dealer says he doesnt have msi 965 platinum, but i dont know wats the difference between the 2, shud i push him for platinum?

next, tell me wat is faster, Dual Core 3.40 ghz or Core 2 duo 1.86ghz, both cost the same.

suggest me where can i compress my budget like maybe going for dualcore cpu or 7300 graphics card, as after a year or so i will be upgrading CPU/Graphics card....... i chose 6300 cos its still some time before i can afford high end CPUs.

also maybe by compressing my budget in cpu/gfx card, is it advisable to take a more expensive board, with more power/upgradability and future proofing.............suggest me wat i can do for this......

p.s. i want to make a gaming rig, and i knw the ram is less but will put another 512mb ram later on.....

C2D E6300 is far better dan Pentioum D 3.40 GHz.Since ur going to upgrade ur gfx crd better buy Intel DG965WH (bout 7k) instead of MSI P965 Neo-F since its has X3000 IGP which is pretty good.Put more ram in the remaining budget.

Well platinum has external SPDIF out as well IEEE 1394 out, 6 SataII, two PCI Express 16X slots with 1x16 and 1x4 operations

where as Neo has 5 SATA (4Sata II & one SATA I), one PCI Express 16X slots

So you shld try to get Platinum as possible..but if thats not possible then Neo is also good

Conroe offcourse...the architecture is completely different from dual core and is far more stable considering heating problems

is it advisable to take a more expensive board
Yes you can have a look @ ASUS Xtreme Striker
*www.techtalkz.com/processors-mothe...-nvidia-nforce-680i-sli-intel-processors.html

This is a hardcore gaming mother board
Its really massive mobo....and future proof...doubt is ..its availability in INDIA

But sure this mobo alon will count uptill 20K

Drool !!! the price quoted by you is much higher..
you culd get E 6300 for 8.8k
512 DDR 533 @ 2.5 K

Prizes where from lamington road Mumbai :)
__________
Why dont you go for
MSI 975X Platinum V.2
*www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=975X_Platinum_V.2&class=mb

this one has two PCI Express 16X slots (PCI Express Bus SPEC V1.0a compliant)(When running Cross-Fire technology, dual 16X slots run at dual 8X speed)

Sure head for this one !!!
+ E6300
BUt u will sure need an external GPU with this one. 7600 is good enough for your limited budget ;)

dude onboard grafix will never be as good as an Ext PCIE vid card will give u...u need to decide..if ur an avid gamer..then u shud go 4 the 7600GT ..with the ASUS P5B...i think u mite wanna consider this mobo also..and yea u shud increase ur RAM to min 1 gb

if ur not into gamin...then the Intel965 is gud enuf...its got support for VISTA as wel...

The onboard gfx of Intel DG965WH supports SM 3.0.Basically its a DX10 (SM 4.0) supporting IGP.At present u cant use it as a DX10 IGP cuz Intel hasnt released d BIOS update.
