Need help with my PC configuration

I have a Computer with me which I have been using like since 2007 its hardware is really outdated
Config
Processor : Intel Pentium D (Not sure this was what sticker said when it was new )
Ram : 1.5 GB
HDD : 160 GB(Dont know the brand )

Thats all I know about it cuz i never concentrated much on its configuration but now its really getting into my veins I have formatted it for like hundred times and I use Lots of adobe products like flash Illustrator Fireworks and stuff which I guess are too heavy programs for my PC and yeah! so I decided to upgrade it and seeing my budget and looking at the killer Rigs article in Digit's May Edition I decided to change the mother board and the HDD
I am looking out to buy this
Asus M4A78LT-M-LE
HDD: 500 GB (Its from western digital or something )

So is that okay will my programs run well on my PC if I upgraded it and will my PC then run windows 7 ? I love the aero glass effect do you think the new configuration will be able to handle it ?
(I am currently running windows vista home basic )
(Hey! dont think i am such a outdated Geek I have a MacBook but still stick to my PC for my Hobbies I use my MacBook frequently for very few stuffs )
Please dont suggest me to buy a new PC I cant (Invested all my money in MAcBook)

Also is the mobo compatble with Pentium D Processor ?
(I have heard installing new mobos require the same number of pin as the processor or somethiong like that )

no. not compatible & you need a 4core (or 6core proccy) & a good amount of ram to get good productivity machine. so give us your budget & fill this template: here.
