Need help on Ubuntu

Currently I am using microsoft xp sp3 & Ubuntu 8.10 installed on same hdd.Now i want to reinstall xp( fresh installation )
But if i install xp my ubuntu will lost & i didnot want to lose it.Is there any way to install xp with losing previous version of ubuntu on my hdd.

Go ahead and install Windows. It will over write your GRUB but Ubuntu would NOT be removed.
Then use the Super GRUB Disk to recover GRUB.

Since you have installed XP & Ubuntu in separate partitions (duh) when you will reinstall XP then it will overwrite the GRUB & MBR, which means just the entry for Ubuntu will be deleted and not Ubuntu OS itself :)
Then you can restore Grub using Super Grub Disk.
