Hello Guys, I can't decide what will be a VFM laptop for me, so decided to start a new thread, please help me:

1) What is your budget?
30K-55/60K (Cost included-Upgrade the new one with SSD+RAM as needed). So, being a low cost but upgradable lap is also good as the SSD+RAM can cost upto 10~12K.

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Size- 13.3 to 15.6kgs and Light Weight (as I have to carry it daily). Max weight I think is 2.2Kg+Adaptor(0.5kg)=3kgs around, as this is big concern to me.

3) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No

4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Programming (VS 2010, sql server, blend, cad/cam)
Browsing
Desktop Processing
Watching HD movies

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?
FHD or 1600*900 but 1366 x 768 is also okay if scren is good. I will use it daily for 10hrs.

6) Anything else you would like to say? (eg: local purchase, ASS,matte/glossy finish)
Any OS as I have purchased Win7 Pro and EMI option is the paying proccess as not that much cash in hand. No choice on look and feel for this buy.

I am very much confused as trying to $$$ low and light weight, performance laptop, please help me.

Found this so far, 4 Models, I think HM76 is okay enough for my work and I can replace SSD with the HDD + 4GB of Ram.
(Especially, the HP pavilion G4 is at 33K with 3210QM and 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz. As I Already have OS purchased and no gaming)

Your thoughts and Any suggestions or models guys?

well i am not absolutely sure but you may try replacing the DVD drive with an SSD thus retaining the HDD. That way you can spend 6-7k on a 120GB SSD if you feel you need any.

For the laptop, if you are ok with 15", get the HP 2000 2116TU. Spend around 8k on an SSD and 4GB ram stick.

Any difference between HM76 and HM75? also it has not USB 3.0 and around 2.5 kg. 14" is the best to reduce weight.
By all other aspect your recommendation is truly VFM.
Any other model from any other site at under 40K?

After doing some research I have found that All i5 proccy (2nd Gen/3rd Gen) have a common power consumption of 35W and core speed are also nearby. So, does really in case of i5 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen do really differ in performance? (Not in gaming, the 3rd gen is better for gaming/graphics that I know).

Here is a chart where FK=flipkart price and some model numbers I found in 2nd and 3rd gen i5

Now, I am thinking to take the HP Probook 4430s (2.04KGs) as that is the 1) lightweight among all 2) Upgradable as without screw back deck open and 3) Pro means some good build.
(I have a plan to add 4Gb Ram + Corsair sereis 3 128GB SSD) = 11K

Please share your thoughts.

no. performance is same. 3rd gen i processors were just a means to test the 22nm manufacturing process and to make it mature. Thats all.

Also load power should be a bit less and the turbo should be more aggressive.

do check the keyboard. I read in a review that last gen Pro's keyboard was not the best. I am not sure which last gen (1st gen core i based or 2nd gen) they were talking about.

For 3rd gen, the turbo is aggressive, right?

Will do, but I heard that the build quality is good, any info?

So what do think, is it a good choice?

if your work doesn't involve any sort of graphics intense work, go for it.
Not anything related rendering or photoshop.
Thnx a lot SAM. Just another question,
I also found this model, similar to probook in terms of config. It has SATA II. But do you think replacing SSD will be a pain in this model or void any warranty? (It comes with 2yrs warranty).
Thanks man, you are helping a lot.

you can consider this. The anti grade display is a huge bonus and i think the keyboard is water proof too.

NO, replacing HDD (to be replaced by SSD) or ram won't void warranty. But if you open up the internal parts like the fan or the heatpipes, then it may. They usually have stickers that identify warranty. Though if you intend to remove the DVD drive, then warranty maybe void.
