Guys,

I would be going abroad to Netherlands most probably for project work within a month on long term basis and I would need a personal laptop. Can you please help me choose one? I heard that laptops and other electronics are expensive in Europe and so I want to buy it from here itself.

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)

Rs.30000

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
c. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen (14" preferable)

3) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

Like: Dell, HP, Asus

4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

Photoediting (photoshop/picasa), browsing, voice calls (skype/yahoo messenger), light gaming (strategy games like civ 5, etc)

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?

14" screen size, glossy/matte does not matter

6) Anything else you would like to say? (eg: local purchase, ASS,matte/glossy finish)

Online purchase, quick delivery (within a week). AMD based (?)

This is perhaps the best laptop for you. Meets all your requirements.

Samsung NP305E4A-S02IN

Specs:
Processor| APU Quad Core A6 3420M 1.5 GHz 4 MB Cache
RAM |4 GB DDR3
Hard Disk |1 TB
Screen Size |14.1 Inch
GPU |AMD Radeon HD 6470M 1 GB
Weight |2.3 Kg

Your budget doesn't allow a better GPU. So you will have to do with playing games at low-med settings only.

why not consider the newly launched HP G6-2005AX? try locally and return the bag and you should have the laptop for 31k and have better GPU. just that it is a 15.6" unit but still under 2.5Kg.

I suggest you to wait for few weeks and let the 3rd gen i3 processor laptops arrive.

Or even IVB i5, if it falls in your budget.

Little over budget, but looks good spec-wise.

i don't see why one should waste money on laptops with GT520 when HD4000 easily outpaces it.
HD7670 > GT630 >> HD4000 (3rd gen i3/i5/i7) >> GT520MX

*images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph5772/45939.png

even better is Trinity's performance (but most laptops comes with added GPU)
*images.anandtech.com/doci/5831/trinity-vs-ivybridge-gaming-new.png

also have a look at these 2 review: HP G6-2005AX Review1 & HP G6-2005AX Review2. Its better to add a SSD to a balanced laptop and make it even better rather than selling out more for a unbalanced overpriced one laptop.
