are u sure/??
coz smebdy else told me tht my motherboard is going bad..!!

Not sure but I hv noticed this problem in my PC also...I replaced HDD...voila prob was gone.

Generally windows xp gets hanged when it has bad sector. check you hdd if it has bad sector. if it has bad sector change it.

Yeah when heatsink of cpu get overheating it also hangs but your system is starting 1st time naa...., so it isn't a heatsink problem.

If your hdd is sata one just change sata power cable (as their are lot of proble m with sata power cables) then uninstall HDD contollers from device manager and restart your PC. If possible try swapping RAM and/or smps and/or HDD, with one from your friend, see if problem persists, if so your motherboard may have problem.

This is caused mainly due to faulty psu . Are there frequent power fluctuation in your area ? Also check cpu and motherboard temperature . Try removing any usb devices like printers etc if they are present . I recently had this problem and a new psu did the trick .

Right off the assembly line
I'v started to face the same problem since last a few days.

i too, hv power failures in my area.
but the problem appears sometimes ever during startup, so i guess its nothing to do with HDD. Worst happens when im in BIOS menu and system gets freeze.

I found some unusual programs running in task manager (like alg .exe alg(with a space between alg & .exe).exe, googleupdate .exe, smax4 .exe)
And when i try to install a new antivirus, same freezing problem appears.

And last, this freezing problem happens even in safe mode.

Help me somebody.

Buddies, thnx for ur suggestions but my pc freezes even when im in BIOS menu, so i guess its nothing to do with HDD.
Still, i formatted my C: drive, removed OS (XP SP2), and still the same problem of freezing even in BIOS, exists. Plus, im not able to update BIOS due to same reason.

Sometimes, automatically everythg goes fine.

Is der any distant possiblity that my motherboard (Intel D865GBF), might hv gone bad ?

Or it might hv smthg to do with that onboard battery ??

(Note: Iv uploaded 4 screenshots for better understanding of my pc problem.

in google, under more tab, click "photo" and search string
