mPesa from Vodafone

Recently one agent called up and asked me repeatedly to apply for Vodafone's mPesa(am using a vodafone sim). He says it offers a lot of facilities including money transfer.

Can anyone tell me how trustworthy this service is? Since I have 2 - 3 bank account numbers linked to that sim(including salary and sb account) could I still consider it secure? Or are there chances of any fraud?

I develop a lot of such applications for various telecom clients across world and I can safely say, since Vodafone is such a big brand, chance of you getting cheated is zero. Unless some crooked agent play in between. You better walk in to Vodafone showroom and register it yourself.

BTW Do you really need this? I mean, almost all of the banks nowadays have mobile apps and txferring money is as easy as it gets. So think about it.

Thanks. Actually on the website it's mentioned that one needs to register with mPesa through agents mainly. I'll go to the vodafone store anyway.

Basically I need that app to recharge mine as well as mom, dad's mobile anytime. Also I need mpesa to transfer money from one bank account to another.
Since you are suggesting better apps are available, could you suggest mainly for SBI and BOI?

As far as I know, SBI and BOI has its own Android apps. Please contact your bank or see the site to download that app. If you still feel mPesa is useful to you after using these apps, go ahead.

BTW I use my Axis Mobile app to recharge my wife's mobile, DTH, Data card and it is good and safe as far as I am concerned.

Forgot to mention one thing. The mobile which I am using is not an Android one. It's an old nokia c 101 model running symbian an old os. So could these apps be available for this model too?

Check it, Even for my Nokia C3-00 there was an AXIS bank app available, but its not working now.
SO, check Nokia store for such applications.

Thanks. SBI doesn't support the nokia c1 but it does c2. So I downloaded and installed c2 version instead. Though it works on my c101, the smaller screen of the mobile makes it difficult to work with. So I guess not supported.
