I know a lot of you'll are big movie buffs here..

so tell me who are your favourite movie critics and why?
it need not be a famous movie critic, it can be some random blog too.
(also do post for which newspaper/ website / blog they work)

I used to follow this blog for Desi movies - Movies | Who is Deep?

the movies section has been dormant since a long time now, I guess.

Edit:

I have an idea. Why shouldn't we Digitians start a movie review blog?? There are plenty of us, I guess.

Well, I was a movie blogger... The Movie Mind : Insights of Movies I watch from 2010
Until, I stopped writing due to lost interest because of shortage of time, and lack of motivation. :p
Now I remain content just by IMDb reviews.

Anyways ya we can start something, even a thread, where people can put in reviews. And we can make it strictly NO COMMENTS on others review..?

because of all the shite that comes out.. we seriously need someone to review it before we waste our time on it :p

we could but strictly ,only for current movies(released this week)
if people start posting reviews of what they saw on tv, dvd etc. it gets a little too crowded ( and we have must watch movies thread for all of this)

See we have a "Must watch movies" thread all ready. But that should be different from a critics thread. :) Or were you thinking something on different lines..?

We can keep it eligible for anything from June 1st onwards. But I would want people to dabble in the following:

1. Theme.
2. Plot.
3. Character development.
4. Story and direction.
5. Screenplay.
6. Overall entertainment value.

These are just wide buckets. Also the review should not be a re-hash of the so famous imdb. I can put up an example of something from the past...!

You could too..!

I agree with the idea.
Would love to give reviews after I watch any movie! :)

It maybe beneficial for my blog too, for which I don't find time "especially" for.

i was thinking on the lines that people review movies which they just watched in theatres so that others who want to watch it dont waste money/time on it by going to the theatres.
for other movies , the reviewing is on in the must watch movie thread

we can make rules, such as no spoilers,.. just rate it on acting etc.. we can decide the criteria

My fav critic here is "Rajeev Masand".

His opinion matches with mine most of the time.
Catch his show "Now Showing" every Friday @10.30PM on CNN-IBN

I read no other reviews (oh, another is Minty Tejpal from "Mumbai Mirror" tabloid...now-a-days he's not writing anymore)

Taran Adarsh and Raja Sen sucks big time.
