My brother has a p4 2.4 Ghz. prescott processor & Gigabyte GA-8VM533 motherboard with Nvidia geforce fx 5200 8x AGP Graphix card. The problem is that the mobo has 4x AGP slot. So I am looking for motherboard with 8X AGP slot for p4 2.4Ghz prescott. please suggest.

Can Gigabyte GA-81848E mobo support p4 2.4 Ghz prescott?

No need....agp 4x is good enough for ur gfx card
if u have a 64-bit memory 5200 fx, the bandwidth is even lesser...
if u want a new mobo anyways then i suggest u buy a new gfx card too

well its a 8x card so wid 4x it wont b able to give dat much of a performance.well u can go for either of these 2 865chipset or 875 chipset both r gud and hav agp 8x.if u can then go for 875 mobo its really gud.

thats coz i m telling frm experience...i have the same card and an agp 4x slot right now...and when i plugged into my friend's 8x slot...i only got a 50 point increase in 3dmark01 :) i dont think its worthwhile to upgrade just for that!

Performance gain with 8X over 4X is negligible. Definitely not worth upgrading. Stick with your current config and upgrade the whole system later.
