even though ur mobo has a AGP slot, the 845 chipset doesnt support AGP bus natively.some mobos with 845 chipset feature a agp slot which uses the pci bus for communication instead of the agp bus cuz 845 doesnt support agp bus.so performance is reduced.

Your information is severly flawed.

There were 2 primary chipsets & there derivatives for 845 series

1) 845G Chipset - Onboard graphics & AGP 4X Slot
845GL chipset - Onboard graphics with no AGP slot. This is what you are mistaking with 845 chipset
845GM - onboard graphics only, made for Laptops

2) 845P chipset - AGP slot & no onboard graphics.
845PM - With no onboard graphics & required a standalone graphics card in those days in Laptops such as Geforce Go FX 5200

Many vendors routed the AGP slot via PCI bus in 845GL chipst giving pseudo AGP performance & compatibility such as Mercury(Kobain) & ASRock
