Guys

As a result of my query in *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/hardware-q/183766-connecting-monitor-keyboard-laptop.html

i brought Dell s2240L monitor. But i am facing issue in setting resolution

1: If i connect my laptops VGA cable to monitor , it is not getting full resolution. my laptop is old Lenovg430 running with windows XP.

2: But if connect my office laptop , which is lenovo thinkpad W530 running with windows 7 , i can get full resolution in my monitor

So is there any way i can improve the resolution in the monitor , since i will be using my personal laptop with monitor..?
if i upgrade the OS to windows 7 , will it can imporve...? [sorry its a noob doubt]

thanks in advance

I don't think windows xp natively supports full HD. Try it from the graphics card control center. And update the drivers

I believe that Windows XP supports multiple monitors. You have to set up the resolution for each monitor separately using the GPU's control panel.

I don't think this has anything to do with your monitor drivers. You should be looking at your GPU control panel.

If your GPU supports full HD then only you would get full resolution on your monitor. Use Nvidia GRAPHIC CONTROLLER to adjust
resolution. Also check if you have latest drivers.
