hi

today i was using my PC and suddenly it went off monitor was on CPU was On but nothing on screen so i removed plug and plugged in again but no ram beep at start ... so i removed one of my 1gb ram chip from one DIMM slot and started again it worked i changed ram with same slot it again worked but when i changed slot it did not work so i moved to another pair of DIMM slot there it worked but PC never booted ... what could be the problem ??

i am using JETWAY JM2A692-GDG mobo .brought it yr back. i read its manual i came across this but i am not getting what are they trying to say
For the DDR SDRAM CLOCK is set at 400MHz, use only DDR2 800- compliant DDR2
Modules. When this motherboard operate at 400Mhz, most system will not even boot if
non-compliant modules are used because of the strict timing issues, if your DDR Modules
are not DDR2 800-compliant, set the SDRAM clock to 200MHz to ensure system
stability.

also if change/replace my mobo do i have to install all OS`s again ??

Since your RAM worked with your motherboard before, the working/non-working experience you had was probably caused by improper contact at the RAM slots, not by RAM timing. For the time being, I won't try to explain what your mobo manual says. As for your closing question:
also if change/replace my mobo do i have to install all OS`s again ??
In many cases, no. If you replace your mobo with a different model, you will just have to install the mobo driver again. However, there may be cases where a previous driver installation conflicts with the new one and the previous one has to be uninstalled first before installing the new one. If that turns out to be a hassle, it's best to install the OS from scratch again.
