If you plan to buy ATX mobo as part of upgrade and go for smallest cabinet, it won't fit. So first identify what exactly you plan to upgrade and then based on the selection of components, decide the case.

Do you have any specific reason to go for smallest case? e.g. space constraints, physical size of the tabletop or so on.

I personally prefer ATX cabinet even if I have m-ATX board because it leaves room on back panel to add expansion brackets without compromising the peripheral slots. e.g. you may buy m-ATX board and later want to add say back panel USB bracket or serial port bracket and then you don't have to put it over existing pci slots since atx size leaves room for that.
