Aside from detecting intrusive and harmful software on people’s computers, the anti-malware application Malwarebytes is also able to detect which users are running a pirated version. While some software vendors might respond aggressively to unauthorized users, the San Jose company takes a more gently approach in the belief that every user contributes to the success of the software, pirates included.

MALWAREBYTES DETECTS PIRATES, ASKS THEM NOT TO STEAL SOFTWARE

Malwarebytes is the best in its category.malware is different from virus,e.g.bundled adware with many freeware softwares now-a-days are not virus in the sense that they don't actually infect files or processes but they do impact pc performance.free version can only do manual scanning(no real-time protection) but combined with a free good AV like avast or avira(or even paid ones like kaspersky, norton, eset etc) that is all you need.just scan your system manually once a week or after installing some freeware & that's it.

Malware is a short term for Malicious software that includes virus,worms,bots,trojan/backdoor, etc that can cause harm to your PC.
Adwares, spywares, ransomware are totally a different category.

But the reality is, their differences are blurring due to the capability of malicious programs that can do some/all the above.

Ex: An adware once get installed onto your PC can download an backdoor stealthily so bots in the internet can control & steal your Creditcard/Personal information from your PC.

It's a Suite of tools that help accomplish great things off your PC :D

Malwarebytes like any Antivirus helps you remove/protect from KNOWN Malwares.

^^you are correct but i meant malware as in the kind malarebytes specializes in like adware etc.it is not a full fledged AV though & even its creators say so:
*helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/entries/...ytes-Anti-Malware-replace-antivirus-software-
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not meant to be a replacement for antivirus software. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a complementary but essential program which detects and removes zero-day malware and "Malware in the Wild". This includes malicious programs and files, such as virus droppers, worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers, spyware, and rogue applications that many antivirus programs do not detect or cannot fully remove. That being said, there are many infections that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware does not detect or remove which any antivirus software will, such as file infectors. It is important to note that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware works well and should run alongside antivirus software without conflicts. In some rare instances, exclusions may need to be set for your specific antivirus product to achieve the best possible system performance.
btw not all adwares are malicious.adware ask.com has been bundled with well known softwares & even avira & at worst it is guilty of privacy violation for targeted ads & search results but nothing malicious.

Judgement Time!!
Well its a better approach than the MPAA with their take down notices and threatening to sue individuals for using it.

also it can detect fake URL(masquerade URLs) better then most of the big boys. If you want to be safer use a hardware based firewall.
Best will be use a old pc or if you have the money get a low power pc and install pfsence (it's a free BSD based dist.) By doing this you will be able to control almost every packet(if you want to do that) which enters or leaves your PC and also you will be able to cache your historical web pages(if you want to do that) and many more

I remember some other software also doing this. They used to Flash a message that they can't stop piracy but you should buy. Forgot the name of Software.
