Making laptop a wi-fi router

I just got my new iPod Touch and i want to access net on it. Unfortunately I don't have a wireless router. However my dad has a laptop, so will it be possible to use the laptop as a wi-fi router so that i can access net on my iPod Touch?

I have a BSNL UL750 connection.
