Damn I just ordered this phone. so how much of the 8gb will be available to user after OS? Will it be sufficient for an average user?

Based on my L520 and both share the same OS, system will take around 2GB (1.95 to be specific)..
Check with L720 ppl/.

No need to worry about 720. You will truly enjoy the WP8/
