I have a PC based on MSI RS-480M2 motherboard with Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 939) Processor, 256x2 MB DDR 400Mhz RAM, 80 GB SATA HDD, Creative Inspire 4400 4.1 Speakers using WinXP+SP2 installed. I use the onboard Realtek AC97 sound and while playing MP3 files, there are lots of pops and clicks, though there is no problem of this sort when playing VCD/DVD. Even updating the audio driver through MSI LIve Monitor (Realtek AC97 Audio Drivers v5.10.00.5890) did not help. Earlier I used to have a PC based on VIA Cyrix III, 667 MHz, 256 MB RAM and 40 GB HDD on FIC FR33(E) motherboard using VIA AC97 onboard sound. Even on such low configuration, I never faced this type of problem. What do I do know?
