A:Multimedia- iam going to learn 3D/Visual effects tools,so I like to upgrade my old PC. configuration: Processor = AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.51GHz, RAM =Transcend 2GB DDR2,HDs= Seagate 500gb +250gb SATA,M.B=ASUS M2NMX,Monitor=ViewSonic VA703b 17” ,creative sbs 2.1 audio system, keyboard,mouse+ Microsoft combo.

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?

3. What is your MAX budget?
A:25,000 (only Motherboard,processor,RAM & GPU)

4. Planning to overclock?
A:YES

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A:Windows 7

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A:NIL (Already have )

A:Hyderabad.No,I like to buy in Hyderabad only

A:im looking for entry level machine for my animations purpose…

amd phenom II X6 1100t @11k, gigabyte ga-880gm-ud2h @ 4.5k, corsair 2x2GB DDR3 RAM@ 2.2k, amd radeon hd 6850 @ 10k. total = 27.7k, which psu do you have?

if you have a paltry psu then change the processor to amd phenom II X6 1050t @ 7.3k and add corsair vx450W @ 3.6k to the config.

Thanks for reply utkarsh009 :) n thanks for psu suggestion. ;) .. is 4GB enough? does we need extra cooling system?

@op: if you use 32-bit os then there is no point going above 4gb but if 64-bit os then you may increase ram as per your budget. but i dont think anything more than 8 gb is required. moreover 4gb should be sufficient. think about cooling system only if you notice high temperatures.

This config would be good for u....
P2 955BE can overclock well with a good CPU cooler

If u can find gigabyte ga-880gm-ud2h - 4.5k u r lucky.... else go for the suggested MSI mobo...

^^ why go for 955be if you can opt for 1050 in same budget. x6 1100t better than i5-2400. it can be oc'ed and has 2 extra cores which would help in heavily threaded apps. please consider reading the whole post by op before replying. op wants to oc so why i5-2400? gigabyte-880gm-ud2h is available everywhere. its the 880gma board which is not available. i have read many bad reviews about msi mobos for amd and about their poor service so i wont recommend that. you can always add a usb3+sata3 addon card later if you require it. i dont think you would but still you can add.

R for 3d max & maya pulgins u need 8 GB of ram but it will work with 4 gb too ), if you are going to work on houdini get a better gpu, GTX 460 is sufficent as it is viewport render based software.(AFAIK) play your simulation in wireframe mode using cache enable it will use less ram during simulation

thats depend on the render size and quality settings , ie a 4k render scene (single frame not a complex scene) with FG and GI enabled and rendered using mental ray use to take around 7-8 mins and peak cpu temp is 78 Degree.

ooo...... cry baby! see this: PassMark - CPU Benchmarks - List of Benchmarked CPUs now compare there ranks. if you need to compare anything with 1100t then compare i5-2500k. it wins in most cases (rather than a few very heavily threaded apps). i5-2400 loses hands down. dont just get blown away by the posts of people in TDF. a good reason for suggesting SB is that LGA1155 being compatible with ivy-bridge. but in this case op isnt a gamer but a professional. 1100t is what op needs with extra 2 cores.
