Looking for 15inch laptop for max 50k

50000 INR

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer? 15-16inch , no issue with weight.


3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
- lots of web browsing , tabs, videos, youtube, microsoft excel/ppt, no gaming. May install adobe photoshop or première old version in future if laptop can handle. (once a year kind of use)

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Ryzen 5 5500U or above or any I5 11th gen or above

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Lenovo/HP > Asus > Acer
b. Dislike: MSI/ Mi / Dell


6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution - full HD
  • Battery back up - not matter
  • Purchase place - any wesbite online or offline store delhi/bangalore
  • would be interested in buying extended warranty. [acer/asus provided cheap extended warranty plans]
  • i shortlisted Acer Aspire Elite because of its metal body. IPS display is missing. Is it worth skipping IPS display for metal body?
  • Currently using Lenovo ideapad 300 series i5 8th gen 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD model. repaired Left side hinge once but now display started flickering and does dull. If i press plastic above keyboard area, the brightness comes back. So thought rather than repairing i can buy one new

Get HP 14s with R5 5500U, 16GB RAM. Many under 50k 15.6" laptops have TN panels, so better avoid it. TN being shit vs IPS is an understatement, TN is garbage & should not be present on any 30k+ laptops.

i have found one good option - acer swift go Ryzen 5 7530u , 1080p IPS display 14inch, 1080p webcam @49k
8GB RAM non upgradable is a downer

Try to find if RAM is upgradeable. Check extended warranty prices as well. Sometimes such basic laptops have 2 year extended warranty for 1-2k.

Believe me, 8GB is just enough for light web browsing. My PC is at 8GB+ RAM usage whenever I have multiple tabs active, non-active tabs are cached. Many people have 10-15 tabs or more open at a time, so crossing 10GB RAM usage is easy. I will get a 16GB RAM laptop or at least one with option to upgrade RAM in future.

Also, 2GB RAM gets blocked by Ryzen CPUs for iGPU VRAM usage instead of having dynamic allocation.

i understand your suggestion for RAM and display. Thanks , i am able to find a laptop below 50k
HP 15-FC0030AU @48k - R5 7520U, 15.6" 1080p IPS 250nits display, 16Gb LPDDR5 6400Mhz, 512GB, 1080p camera, backlit KB. Does this make sense? instead of HP 14s, since it has big screen and 1080p camera.

Else 2 option i have from Acer -
Acer Aspire 5 A514-56M - i5 1335U, 512gb SSD, 8GBDDR5[+1 empty slot], 14inch 1200p IPS, 1080p camera - @50k[on acer it got OoS, need to find again]
Acer swift go SFG14-41 - R5 7530U, 16gb LPDDR4X, 512GB SSD, 14inch 1080p IPS, 1080p camera [ available at 52k]

would you have any preference ?

Many under 50k 15.6" laptops have TN panels, so better avoid it. TN being shit vs IPS is an understatement, TN is garbage & should not be present on any 30k+ laptops.
