Hi

I just wanted to tryout Compiz on my OpenSuSE 10.2 system, but the graphics were not supported and it resulted in a system crash. I did everything I could, but the system never went back to the way it was.

So, I have been wondering... is there any small Linux distribution, which I can install on a 1G Pendrive and then also install XGL-Compiz/beryl on it and use it? Or is there any such distribution that comes with these apps?

Please people... I really liked those, but cannot risk the system crashing again and again. Just, is there any such Distro which I can use on a Pendrive?

^There are many distros which can be installed and run on a pendrive, but I dont know if they support Beryl/Compiz.
I tried puppy linux, the graphics are like that of win98 and nobody is going to use beryl on that. Its like Win98+Aero:D

Dude...Damn Small Linux!!! *www.damnsmalllinux.org/

You can always download and install Beryl to make a custom installation on your pen-drive!

Here's a few features from the website:

DSL is a very versatile 50MB mini desktop oriented Linux distribution.

Damn Small is small enough and smart enough to do the following things:

* Boot from a business card CD as a live linux distribution (LiveCD)
* Boot from a USB pen drive
* Boot from within a host operating system (that's right, it can run *inside* Windows)
* Run very nicely from an IDE Compact Flash drive via a method we call "frugal install"
* Transform into a Debian OS with a traditional hard drive install
* Run light enough to power a 486DX with 16MB of Ram
* Run fully in RAM with as little as 128MB (you will be amazed at how fast your computer can be!)
* Modularly grow -- DSL is highly extendable without the need to customize

Why can't you? Its a simple matter of downloading and installing it from the distribution's repositories...
