Its Ubuntu plus media codecs plus a lot of other noob friendly software including mintDisk (ntfs-3g driver functionality out of the box), mintInstall (Click 'n' Run style software management package in addition to the Synaptic and apt-get package managers) and many other features.

Other than that, its Ubuntu...and the eyecandy out of the box is pretty funky! :)

Linux mint is awesome. Have been using it since 2.0. Is extremely noob friendly. It is so noob friendly that i am still a noob after such a long time :)

anyone tried ubuntustudio? its good as well. includes many proprietory codecs by default!!!

i'll download and try mint 3.0 once the kde edition is out.... looks cool!

Ubuntu Studio is mainly for Multimedia Professionals n for home users(much more fitted as it doesn't hv advanced tools) for multimedia editing , etc :)

yeah, includes the commonly used codecs, audio/video then midi software, digital audio editing softwre, mixing, basic video editing etc.
