Hmmm I thought you had to use a crossover cable when connecting 2 PCS directly...

Hi Yash,

I am assuming that you have run the in-built wizards to do the networking between the two computers.

It seems like you are having problems with the cable/crimping. Make sure you get that done professionally. Like exx said, You will need a crossover cable to connect two computer without using a hub or switch (but you have done this before, right?)

This link tells you how to go about it.

Secondly to share the Internet connection, you can continue using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or you can also use a 3rd party software like Proxy from analog X. If you use Analog X, put in the IP addresses of the computers manually, and specify one as the gateway.

Lastly, the dialer keeps on popping up as you have enabled that dial-up connection to be shared by all computers. On the computer that has the Internet connection, go to network connection> right click the dial up connection>under properties>advanced tab>Internet connection sharing>Uncheck the box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

DH.
