hey guys and gals...
im with a prob..

i purchased the lg dvd writer h42n...
bt in the device manager the model number shown is h12n...is the first problem...thn
it reads the discs fine alright bt wen i try to write nething on a cd...
it gives an error sayin DMA ERROR, CRC ERROR...somewhat like this...
wat can this possibly be??

pls help me out..!!

r u talkin bout the cd im writing into???
well fr tht im using a sony cd-r...a normal blank cd.

and i dnt think thrs ne prob with the data or the power cable...coz the writer is perfectly reading cds and dvds/..!!

help me guys pls..!

Sorry To hear abt that dude.

Ihve only one solution for that uninstall nero then again install coz u hav writin prob no reading prob.

If this dont help then format ur computer

if this also does not help then throw ur Dvd Writer

Information Based on the above points.....

Don't give up that hope!

It could be something very simple....like different writing speeds for the disc and writer. Why not try and write a simple data DVD and then see the result?

If it's reading CD's and DVD's normally then it could be a writing speed issue....or maybe that SONY CD is damaged.

im writing cds at 32x only...is tht also too slw...alright thn i ll try writing at a higher speed and at a better media..!!

You can try the following

1) Change the IDE cables, it may create writing problem even you can read cd/dvd perfectly. If you don't have the cable, try changing the ends of the cables.

2)If possible first try this writer in another working system. This will confirm that there is no problem in the Writer itself.

3) If not possible to have another system, try uninstalling nero and re-install it. Try with another software like InCD or usint utility in WinXp.

4) Scan your system for any virus that may cause problem in your system.

5) Format the system and install it fresh completly.

6) Finally your writer is defective, get it replace/repaired from the company if it's in warranty.
