hi all digit forum members
i have been reading your forum for over a year now
your discussions are damn interesting & informing as well

this is my first post hope somebody responds sensibly thanx in advance

I need a lcd-tft monitor to connect directly to tata sky set top box ie I need a monitor which does have s video /composite / component inputs along with regular dvi/rgb inputs
i dont want to use my pc ac tv because i dont like to turn pc on 10 times a day

Im having a Samsung sync master940bw but it does have only dvi-d&rgb inputs
So ineed a new monitor with s video /composite / component inputs which i would be using as a lcd tv pairing it with my altec lansing mx5021 speakers

my requirement is for a monitor within 20-30k range 20"-22" in size for my room because no i repeat no lcd tv in indian market within 20-30k range
supports 1600*1200 resolution plus bass as compared to my altec lansing mx5021 this would be certainly awesome

according to my research i found some lcd monitors in indian market with s video /composite inputs they are

DellTM 2007WFP 20" UltraSharpTM Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor 28k

DellTM 2007FP 20" UltraSharpTM Flat Panel LCD Monitor 25k

DellTM 2407WFP 24" UltraSharpTM Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor 39k (so its not within my budget)

BenQ FP241W 24" hd compatible (but im sure its tag kicks a** )

asus PW201 20" wide screen (but i dont know its tag )

is there any other monitor in indian market aka nehru place with s video /composite inputs 20"-22" in size 20-30k range
from samsung /lg/sony/viewsonic or any other damn great brand?????

plez respond with price tag in nehru place and among them which would be a worth buy???

second option
is there any converter/splitter available which can convert composite video signal from tatasky set top box to vga (db-15) signal which i can use
with my Samsung sync master940bw standalone (man not via that damn pc tv tuner card it suc** a *****es son a**)

as of my googling i found some abroad but is there any available in delhi & what about converted signal quality is it of wow???

anyway respond man
luv thanx in advance

the cheapest solution is to buy a external LCD tv tuner card from any good company. It will cost u bout 3-4.5k.In this way u dont hav to switch on ur pc every time u wanna watch tv.

This applies to most external LCD tv tuners from reputed companies (pinnacle ,pixelview etc ).
I've seen PixelView PlayTV Box5.
price : 3-3.3k

But personally i prefer internal ones cuz they allow u to record and timeshift and also allow u to multitask while watching tv.

So are these features not possible with external ones?
I saw one pinnacle external tuner for 5400/- & it claimed to be having recording facility & time **** but I did not buy it as I am not sure how will time shifting work with STB, since delhi is now under CAS.

i think the pinnacle xternal tuner card ur talkin bout is a USB tv tuner card cux xternal tuners other than USB 2.0 dont hav recording facility.its better to buy a internal tuner than a xternal USB cuz data transfer speeds thru usb prove to be a bottleneck.
theres no reason why recording wont work with STB,just connect the video out from stm to the composite video in of the tuner card.

man
that was great for ur quick responsiveness & broad aspect

you own me a one for suggesting standalone external tv tuner

as of my googling i found some from
compro usa
pinnacle
pixelview

PixelView PlayTV Box5.is available with rptech in india
but what about compro as of mediatech they dont sport it at their site
nor is with pixelview

is any body using standalone external tv tuner if so please rate it here
it would be a great help for a shoping spree

or someone from techtree or digit has reviewed
standalone external tv tuners please let us know which of them are available in india
with their prices and picture quality

thanx
